A Letter to Elena
Part Two

Delena fans, it's your turn to speak on the happenings in episode 19 of The Vampire Diaries. Did "Heart of Darkness" take your breath away or what? And don't forget about episode 20 where we all got a taste of what used to be with Stefan & Elena. Did you enjoy it? Or did you wish she would have had some moments with Damon? Here's what you had to say to Elena. As always, feel free to tweet me any additions
!

Dear Elena,

First of all - *slaps you* - you're not sure what you're feeling?
About Damon, about Stefan, about anything! Why? It's not rocket science, Princess. You don't run to, jump on & kiss attack someone you don't have feelings for so why is it so hard for you to just admit it. Damon sets your whole body on fire from the inside out.  Go ahead and say it out loud and then try to tell us it isn't true. (We'll call you a liar, but you're free to say it anyway.)

We get it; Stefan not only came first, but he lights up your life, makes you a better person, ect. ect. and you love him. But you love Damon, too. You're just not admitting it to yourself because you feel guilty about it. You and Stefan have this sweet, deep, emotional connection & you feel bound to him. That's cute. Really, it is. And you do make him a better person.

But Damon? There's a desire & a passion there that engulfs both of you when you're together. Not only do you make him better, but he makes you better, too. He challenges you to be stronger & makes you face yourself rather than just accepting everything you want & letting you cram the stuff you don't want to face into a tiny box & bury it somewhere just because it seems easier at the time. Stefan hides all his bad parts instead of embracing them so it makes sense that he would be okay with you repressing anything negative, too. Damon faces it head on & encourages you (& his brother) to do the same. He might make impulsive decisions when he's angry or grieving, but isn't it obvious that his more aggressive approach to things is, often (not always, but often!) healthier than pushing it all down & pretending it'll just go away?

He's been there for you more times than we can count no matter how badly you may have hurt him in the past and the same can be said for you of him. You've both made mistakes with each other, but you both always keep coming back. Your hearts are like magnets; the pull is inevitable. Embrace it.

Sincerely,
(& perhaps desperately….)
Team Delena

A Letter to Elena
Part One

Episode 19 was insanely good, was it not? The cast, the writers, producers, directors, camera crew - everyone affiliated with The Vampire Diaries in any capacity whatsoever - unquestionably deserve the most ridiculous display of love (perhaps in the form of a standing ovation or numerous "We love you!" tweets) right now. They never fail to deliver and I usually end up staring at the television with my best "OhMyDamon" face. You know the one…big bulging bug eyes and mouth hanging wide open…it's not at all attractive.

Play this video if you want to see some hilarious fan reactions….

However, if you're a Stelena shipper, you're probably not so happy right now. No one can deny the genius behind the show, but that doesn't mean that you always have to like it. So, today I'm speaking for Team Stelena in a letter to Miss Elena Gilbert. Feel free to tweet me any additions!

Dear Elena,

You. Are. An. Idiot.
That about sums it up, but since you've been so unable to clarify & commit to your feelings this season, let us tell you why you're an idiot in the hopes that it will open your eyes to what you've been missing.

Turn & face Stefan. You see those soulful eyes looking back at you? They love you (for some unknown reason)! Stefan is in love with you! You're still in love with Stefan! It shouldn't be so hard to see; there's only one option here. You are not Katherine so stop channeling her!

He's hot. He's got a pure, good heart & he fights so hard for it. For you. He cares enough about you to sacrifice anything for you. He has tried so hard to push you away either for your safety or because he doesn't think he's good enough for you, but you've never stopped loving him. That ought to tell you something, you dim-witted female. He loves you enough to let you go if that's what you want. Everything about your relationship with him is right & pure! You're so good for him! Why do the good guys always have to finish last? Open up your eyes and see what's right in front of you. Did we mention that Stefan was there first? Stop being an idiot & come back home where you belong, Elena.

Sincerely,
Team Stelena

Delena fans, do not despair! Come back soon to see what your team has to say to the indecisive Miss Gilbert.

A Heart Knows

Over the past 62 episodes we have watched a beautiful relationship between Stefan and Elena blossom, grow, die and bloom into something entirely different.  Their romantic relationship has turned into a deep friendship.  We were also witnesses to a relationship of deep connection and denial with Damon and Elena.  Together, we will look at how our minds and hearts play tricks on us and which road Elena should follow.

Stefan and Elena’s relationship is a MIND connection.  Even in Stefan’s wildest moments he always protected Elena.  In The Reckoning Klaus compelled Stefan to kill Elena if time ran out.  Stefan made Elena run to get a head start and was able to hold off as long as he could so he wouldn’t hurt her.  The lowest point for Stefan and Elena came in The New Deal when he threatened her life by almost driving her off the Wickery Bridge.  Even after all this Elena is still drawn to Stefan and Stefan is shielding over Elena.

Maybe Stefan was sent to Elena to be her rock in the beginning when her parents died.  Stefan was a great support system and perfect distraction at that point in Elena’s life.  He is the safe one for Elena to love, but it doesn’t mean it was meant to be.  Together, Stefan and Elena will always be connected but it is possible to love someone as a friend and want the best for him.  This is similar to Elena and Matt’s relationship.  They have a connected bond that is a friendship, they tried something beyond but they are more beneficial in each other’s lives as friends.  Stefan and Elena are on that path now.

Stefan tried to push Elena away countless times, maybe he truly wants to see her with Damon because he knows that Damon will be loyal and always protect her.  Also, Stefan knows he is a liability to her life as a lover.  Klaus and everyone will come after Elena because of him.  Damon will protect Elena stronger and more drastically than Stefan every will.

Stefan and Elena will most likely try to move one but Elena’s love for Damon will shine through and cripple Stefan and Elena’s relationship.
Damon and Elena’s relationship is a HEART connection.  Damon is only mean and ridiculous because he has spent his whole life in heartbreak.  He needs to mend his heart and Elena is the perfect person to help him do this.  He is not a bad person deep inside, he is afraid to let his true self show.  Damon has always looked out for Elena by looking out for the ones she loves.

Damon compelled Jeremy because it made a difference for Elena.  He has saved Alaric countless numbers of times because he is the guardian in Elena’s life.  He protects Stefan, not only because he owes it to him, but because right now he is who is important to Elena.  Damon also has spared Bonnie because she is Elena’s best friend.

Damon would have definitely changed Elena into a vampire by now if he didn’t truly love her.  Elena is not ready to admit to herself that she loves Damon because right now loving Stefan is easier.  Elena’s heart was Damon’s when they met that is why she is always looking for a reason to hate him.  When she hates Damon it makes it easier to love Stefan.  It is easier for Elena to hate Damon than give in and open up her heart for it to be broken.

Katherine was the connection that brought Elena, Stefan and Damon together.  She has no effect on them now; Damon and Stefan each have a separate and intimate relationship with Elena.

Elena has been facing her emotions all season.  The question is how much will she ever admit?  Well, that is something we are all waiting to find out.  In an ideal episode, Elena will truthfully admit her connection with Damon.  They will intimately connect (if you know what I mean) and begin a season full of a long relationship.

However, the writers are too creative and probably won’t do that until season 10!  The next few episodes will most likely have Elena admitting her fondness for Damon; they go on a date and almost get intimate when Damon has some kind of vampire rage that ruins their night.  A relationship between Damon and Elena would be fantastic, sexy and honest but it would most likely send Stefan away (or into the arms of another).

The heart and head function in two very different ways.  But, “it is better to have love and lost, than to never have loved at all.”  Damon and Elena deserve a chance to explore their relationship.  Elena will protect Stefan and Damon and find a life that will work best for all of them.

Listening to her head and doing what is expected of her is the easy way out and Elena needs to listen to her heart and go forward in her relationship with Damon.  Stop leading him on and commit already! (even if just for a little while)

Operation Vampire Diaries Detox

I'm sweating.

I know what you're thinking: "um….ew," right?

Because sweating is generally regarded across the board as a synonym for 'disgusting inkiness,'  (or at least in my mind it is).  But this time, I actually have a great reason for sweating and I think anyone reading this can relate  (and no, it's not because of Ian Somerhalder's handsome face or striking blue eyes, although I will admit, those are more than valid excuses).

It's The Vampire Diaries - or more accurately - the lack of them.

I happen to be one of the millions of unwilling participants in Operation Vampire Diaries Detox.  The powers that be have deemed it necessary to put my drug of choice on hiatus. (Feel free to gasp. I'm just as appalled as you are.)

I suspect that I'm entering the beginning-stages of withdrawal with far too many days to go before I get any kind of relief.  You may have heard that Operation Vampire Diaries Detox is the supposed 'cure' for TVD Withdrawal Syndrome.  In reality, it's just a way for the CW to keep us on our toes.  Or butts.  Sweating with anticipation for our next weekly fix.  Thing is, we've been running on reruns for only Elijah knows how long and we're starting to get the shakes.

However, you needn't be alarmed.  This is a temporary infliction curable by our approaching induction into the Vampire Diaries Relapse Academy which starts promptly at 8pm on Thursday, March 15th just by tuning into the CW.  You should attend if you or anyone you know has experience with the following symptoms (particularly, within the first two stages):

Stage One:
  • Made notable by accompanying pain, anxiety and depression (Or inkiness in the form of sweating).  If you know someone going through this, be a good friend and take them some popcorn and the season two DVD of Vampire Diaries.  Not only could it save their sanity, but it will forever put you on the "Indispensable Friend List."
  • Trust me, people; you cannot have too many friends who consider you indispensable.  You never know when you may be Klaus' next victim.
Stage Two:
  • The opposite of withdrawal.  This is the stage filled with energy and optimism.  Example: Yes!  One more week to go and it's back to normal life with the vamps, witches and wolves (wouldn't that make a great new modern remake of the Wizard of Oz?  Vampires, witches and wolves! Oh my!)
Stage Three:
  • The relapse period. You see, this is where so many people let the anxiety and depression get the better of them & they run right back down Vampire Relapse Boulevard.
  • You see, TVD fans, we'll never make it passed this stage as long as Vampire Diaries is around. It's a fact. If the anxiety doesn't suck you back in, Paul & Ian's faces will (no pun intended).
Stage Four:
  • One word.  Acceptance.
  • I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm not ready to accept anything that entails the demise of Damon's flirty eyes, Alaric's day-drinking, Nina's exceptional portrayal of not one - but two - characters or Vampire Barbie anything.   If ever there was a stroke of genius in a series, it was making Caroline Forbes a vampire, but that's a story for another day.
Stage Five:
  • Resolution: occurs after six months of abstinence.
  • I'm (not really) sorry to break it to you, but I am too far gone to ever reach this point of recovery. You can officially label Operation Vampire Diaries Detox an epic failure where I'm concerned. Vampire Diaries has ruined me for life. Thank you Kevin Williamson, Julie Plec and the entire TVD cast; you have created my perfect brand of Entertainment Heroine.
Take that, Edward Cullen.

So, my fellow Vampire Diaries Addicts - you should take solace; the end of your torture is near.  In the meantime, I'd love to hear what you're doing to hold yourselves together during the current "hellatus" (thank you very much Thomas Galv
in for that apt description of the CW hiatus)!  You're such strong, courageous souls to pick up the pieces and keep moving forward even though your soul DVR is currently empty of its reason to exist.  Keep pushing on, brave ones.  Don't let TVD Withdrawal Syndrome or Operation Vampire Diaries Detox destroy you.  Find the nearest remote and tune into The Vampire Diaries on Thursday, March 15th on the CW - and for the love of all that is "Original" - spread the word.

Tell us  how you've been coping with  The Vampire Diaries  hiatus!
