About The head on Collider

After working for a year demoing tracks at his studio in North London, Jamie decided the time was right to record his debut EP, The Head On Collider. Enlisting the help of producer and friend Dave Eringa (who has recorded The Manic Street Preachers, Kylie Minougue, Toploader, and Jamie’s former band South, amongst others) he knew the EP would be in capable hands, and it was Dave who suggested he sequester himself in the welsh mountains for The Head On Collider sessions.
What a good suggestion it proved to be - the scenery (snowy peaks and evergreen forests) and the weather (howling winds and driving rains) were truly inspirational.
The featured tracks were picked from 20 or that were recorded, as they most represented the sound that Jamie wanted to achieve. "I'll Be Thinking Of You" has a signature sound of a randomly tuned auto harp, found on the floor of the studio whilst Jamie was recording the song. "Head On Collider" sounds like what you might get if "Crowded House" and "The Charlatans" had a fight. "Can't Get Rid of This" was the last of the 20 songs to be written before deciding which would be recorded in Wales., and "Against The Sky" captures the majesty and the atmosphere of the studios situation in Snowdonia.
