Robert Pralgo is the Mayor of Mystic Falls on The Vampire Diaries. He is husband to the flirtatious Mrs. Lockwood, and the Father to Tyler Lockwood. They are one of
Mystic Fall's Founding Families. The Mayor and his wife are avid members of a secret town council that protects the town from vampires. Although it has never been stated in the series, it is believed that Mayor Lockwood is a werewolf and has passed on the gene to his son. We see no indication of this theory until Season Ones’ finale where both Mayor Lockwood and Tyler are affected by a device that was created to kill vampires. They respond to the device but, but Mayor Lockwood is not affected by the vervain he is injected with, implying that he is not a vampire. Unfortunately, the Mayor will not be returning for season two seeing as how he was killed in the finale.
Robert Pralgo was born June 4, 1966 in the Bronx. His father Mel Seymour Pralgo moved to L.A. in the mid 70's where he began an "Actors Teaching Actors" class instructed by Joyce Davis-Smith. Robert often accompanied his father to the class. He was sometimes pushed to participate in a class for young actors that Christina Applegate was enrolled in. Years later, Robert moved to L.A. to continue his studies with Joyce. She encouraged him to enroll in Carnegie Melon, an acting school she was affiliated with. Still unsure of what he wanted for his future, Robert neglected her advice.
Robert Pralgo re-located to Atlanta where he graduated with a B.A. in T.V./Film Production from the University of G.A. Following his graduation; Robert landed a gig as a bartender. While bar tending he began his acting studies with Sandra Dorsey. When Sandra gave him the go-ahead, Robert began auditioning for plays in and around Atlanta. He introduced himself to a variety of agents and casting directors, eventually getting picked up by The Houghton Agency. With lousy head shots and minimal experience
listed on his resume, the agency submitted Robert for any job that would give him a chance.
Today Robert Resume` consists of about twenty lead roles and over ten supporting roles in the film industry. He is best known for his portrayals as: Micah Ranum in Harvest Moon and Max Adams in Precious Cargo. He has been known to do theater in Atlanta as well as L.A. Robert has been featured on a variety of T.V. series including,
but not limited to: One Tree Hill, Drop Dead Diva, Army Wives, and of course The Vampire Diaries. The skills listed on his resume` are: "Stunt Fighting, Horseback Riding, Jet Skiing, All team sports, Wireless Ear Prompter, Teleprompter, Speed talking, Bar tending, Stick-shift and is great with animals and kids."
Robert’s upcoming series, “Franklin & Bash” was picked up by TNT and is currently in post-production. Robert Pralgo will play a reporter.
