The Vampire
Diaries Episode 22 Synopsis
"Founder's Day"
Damon
talks to Stefan about Elena and Katherine and what happened in the
past. Damon goes to the Founders days’ party to annoy Stefan. They both
understand that Elena isn’t Katherine and they both agree that what
happened in the past shouldn’t happen again. Elena comes in and all you
see are visions of Katherine before you. "Founder's Day"
Anna visits Jeremy, Jeremy tells Anna that he knows that John killed Anna’s mother. Anna insists that Jeremy and her should leave and she can turn Jeremy. Jeremy has doubts, Anna gives him a vial pf her blood, but Jeremy refuses to drink it. At one time that was Jeremy’s desire to become a vampire, but now he doesn’t know if that is what he still wants.
Stefan tells Elena that he and Damon thinks that John is her father. She is shocked and disgusted, because she hasn’t ever liked him. But she is glad that they told her regardless of how she feels for John. Elena is very upset and hurt because of how Jeremy’s attitude is towards her. She knows that he isn’t going to ever forgive her by asking Damon to erase his memory. She tries to talk to him one more time but he refuses to talk to her.
As the parade starts, Alaric’s students have recreated, “The battle of Willow Creek.” Following behind is, “The Miss Mystic Falls” Caroline with Matt, Elena and Stefan, and some of the other girls with their escorts. Damon finds Bonnie and tells her, “Thanks, for deactivating the devices powers, he is very really grateful for that.” He walks away and we can see that Bonnie looks awful for betraying them.
John shows the device to the Mayor and tells him about its power. It makes a noise that normal people don’t hear, but if any vampires are near they will hear it and they will be drop to their knees because of the noise. Council’s members and the Sheriff deputies will catch the vampires, give them vervain, stake them, and gather them in a room together to destroy them. John say’s that he’s sure that the vampires from tomb will attack at the party of the Founder’s day, the Major questions John on how he knows this for sure, John tells him that, “he has his sources.”
Anna goes to into a basement and meets the escaped vampires from the tomb. They’re surprised to see her, but share their plans with her about killing the town’s people.
Elena meets Damon at the Mystic Grill; she tells Damon that she is worried about Stefan and voices concerns about their friendship. Damon starts to flirt with Elena, she asks Damon to stop flirting with her. She informs Damon that she doesn’t want to regret being his friend. She goes to Jeremy and asks him how can she fix their relationship? She tries to apologize again, but he looks at her and tells her to, “Go to hell, Elena” and leaves Elena standing there, alone.
Damon follows him and tells Jeremy to stop hurting Elena’s feelings. He starts to threaten him, but Stefan steps in and orders Damon to let Jeremy go. Stefan tries to explain to Jeremy to stop blaming Elena in Vicki’s death, but the words go unheard, Jeremy just doesn’t want to hear them. Stefan tries to explain to Jeremy what exactly happened to Vicki; Damon turned her and Stefan killed her. Jeremy leaves even more confused and angry. Stefan turns to Damon and tells him to not get involved or get in between Elena and Jeremy’s relationship. Damon and Stefan have a few choice words and than go there separate ways.
John and Mayor Lockwood tell Sheriff Forbes about their plan. She’s shocked and doesn’t want to use Mystic Falls as bait. She says, “No!” John asks the Major to step out because he wants to talk to the Sheriff alone. She isn’t going to change her mind but John hits her and makes her unconscious. He takes her guns away, chains her up and leaves.
As the evening progresses Anna finds Damon and takes him aside to inform him about the revenge that the vampires of the tomb are planning on the town of Mystic Falls. They want the founding families dead (THAT INCLUDES ELENA…). They are planning on attacking when the fireworks start. Damon still thinks that the device is deactivated. Anna is upset because a lot of people are going to die. Damon finds Alaric and asks for his help, Alaric heads to his car for his tools. Damon also goes to find Stefan and Elena and tell them about the attack and orders Stefan to get Elena out of here, now. But instead of leaving, Elena insists on finding Jeremy first.
Mayor Lockwood goes to the Grill and pleads with Tyler to go home and take his friends (Caroline and Matt) with him.
Anna finds Jeremy before Stefan and Elena do and takes him with her.
The firework begins and Major Lockwood gives a command to start the device. It device starts and the vampires within the crowd start to drop! Damon and Stefan hear the noise. Anna and the vampires from the tomb start dropping within the crowd. Than suddenly and surprisingly Major Lockwood drops and is injected with vervain. Tyler starts freaking out as he is driving the car with Matt and Caroline inside. They end up hitting a wall because Tyler loses control of the car.
As Elena helps Stefan to safety an officer with vervain is getting closer to Stefan but Alaric gets his attention and saves him and Elena.
An officer walks in on Anna and Jeremy and they inject Anna with vervain and take her away. Jeremy tried to fight them off, but fails. Anna and other vampires are taken into a basement, including Major Lockwood. John sees Anna and recognizes her, she pleads with him to not kill her but he doesn’t listen and kills her, anyways. Damon watches, but he couldn’t do anything to save her because he was still unconscious by the vervain.
John pours gasoline everywhere and lights the basement on fire. The flames are killing the vampires and getting closer to Damon, but he can’t move to even save himself.
Elena and Stefan are safe, but when Stefan asks Alaric if he has seen Damon, Alaric responds, “No, not since it all started.” They all figured out that Bonnie didn’t remove the spell. Elena asks Alaric to take Jeremy home; she and Stefan will go looking for Damon.
Tyler’s mother walks into Sheriff Forb’s office to find her awake, but still chained to the heater. She frees her, and tries to explain to her what has just happened outside with everybody dropping to the ground and being taken away, including her husband, Major Lockwood.
Damon and Major Lockwood meet in the basement. Damon informs him, that he’s a vampire, but wants to know his excuse. Major Lockwood says nothing, he tries to crawl away from Damon, but only ends up in the lap of another vampire from the tomb and his neck get broken.
Matt and Caroline are from the car accident, or it seems. Tyler has some injuries and medics are helping him. As the paramedics look into Tyler’s eyes they notice his eyes change colors and shape…like an animal. (WEREWOLF? Hmm..) Suddenly, Tyler wakes up and is fine, but Caroline faints.
Stefan and Elena are still searching for Damon. Stefan hears that the building is on fire, John notices them and tries to stop them, and Elena asks him where Damon is? John thinks that he has done the right thing to protect the town of Mystic Falls. Elena and Stefan run to the basement, but it’s to engulf with flames, john catches Elena arm and orders her not to go inside because he has killed everyone. Elena reveals to John that she knows that he is her father and by him not refusing the truth, she knows it’s the truth, now.
Stefan is going into the basement when Bonnie catches him and warns him about the fire. But he needs to save his brother and goes in there anyways. Elena wants to follow him but Bonnie grabs her hand and warns her. She’s sorry for lying and then Bonnie starts to speak in tongue and starts to fight the fire with a spell. Stefan gets into the basement grabs Damon and runs out. The other tomb vampires and Major Lockwood burn. Bonnie, Stefan, Damon and Elena are safe.
Stefan and Elena are at the Grill and Damon just ran off. Stefan cares about him, so does Elena. She tries to comfort him and make him understand that she loves only him. She keeps looking at Stefan and saying, “I love you, you’ve got nothing to worry about!” Jenna just called Elena to let her know that Jeremy is at home and safe. Elena goes to the school for her stuff and then goes to check on Jeremy.
Jeremy is sitting on his bed twisting the vile of Anna’s blood in his hands. He puts it in his desk. Then Damon shows up and tells him, “Anna’s dead! I know you cared about her, I wanted to help her but he couldn’t. I can take away your suffering again, but it’s your choice.” Jeremy reveals that taking memories away isn’t healing his emptiness. Jeremy asks Damon a few question about feelings and being a vampire, Damon informs him that, “life sucks even if you’re a vampire!”
Tyler and Matt are in the hospital. Caroline has eternal bleeding; the doctors are doing what they can to save her. The Sheriff tells Tyler to call his mother and that it’s about his dad.
Jeremy decides to drink Anna’s blood and goes through his drawers and finds the same pills the Vicki and him dosed on. Jeremy starts taking one by one, until they are all gone. He looks at himself in the mirror and crawls into his bed and lay down.
Bonnie finds Stefan. She informs him, “Because Elena loves you, and I couldn’t let you or Damon die. But things have to change. Damon has to change. If he spills even one drop of innocent blood, I’ll take him down. Even if I have to take you with him.” Stefan agrees to that and hopes that it doesn’t have to come to that.
When Elena arrives house she runs into Damon. He makes a beautiful speech about saving the town that he once wanted to destroy and how his past has became his future to a certain point. How he sees that he needs to change, how Elena has made him change for the good, and he thanks her for saving him. He leans in and kisses her on cheek. Regardless of how we didn’t want to see it or didn’t want it to happen, they kissed…YES, on the lips! But, of course Jenna catches them and asks Elena to come inside. Elena steps inside, but she refuses to talk to Jenna about it!
John closes the fridge door and sees that Elena is standing there. John tells her that she scared him. He tells Elena that he fell in love with Isobel when he was a teen. A part of why he hates vampires so much is because of what she became. John walks up to Elena and offers her help in the kitchen. She accepts, raises a knife and cuts his fingers hand off with his ring still attached to his fingers. He looks at the face and realizes that it’s not Elena, but KATHERINE!
She responds to John, “Hi John, Goodbye, John!” and kills him!
Real Elena arrives at home talking to Stefan on her phone, shocked that her stuff from school has disappeared. She tells Stefan that she’s going to check on Jeremy and then to the hospital. She tells Stefan, “I love you!”
She hears a sound from the kitchen…
