Stephen Martines had a small part on The Vampire Diaries as the Vampire Frederick (but by no means is he a small actor) unfortunately we didn’t get to see a whole lot of his work since he was killed by Stefan on episode 17 "Let the right on In". Stephen is Currently on the popular TV show "The Closer". This talented actor has had many roles including parts in CSI: Miami, Bones, Monarch Cove, Guiding Light and General Hospital. His newest movie is called Mud Dog Blues (currently in pre-production). Also many of you don't know that he has recently  joined twitter (march 6th) so if you’re not already following him please go do it now @stephenmartines.

Stephen was born in St. Louis, Missouri (July 23, 1975) to Marlene Lombardo and Stephen Martines; he has two siblings, a sister named, Melissa; 30 and a half-sister named, Amanda; 19. He is also the nephew to Guy Lombardo. When his parents divorced he lived with his mother until the age of 15 and then went to live with his father, with whom he is very close too. Stephen was a great soccer player at an early age, having been scouted at the age of 14 by many colleges and professional teams, both nationwide and international. He attended CBC High School  (Christian Brothers High School) in Clayton, Missouri and graduated in 1993.

After turning down many offers for scholarships to play soccer at some of the top schools in the country, Stephen chose to attend SMS (Southwest Missouri State University, the schools name at that time), which is now known as Missouri State University. Tragedy struck Stephens family in October of 1994, when his father suddenly passed away due to a massive heart attack. Stephen left school, quit soccer and went home. After the burial of his father, Stephen had every intention of finishing where he left off in school. Stephen enrolled himself at Webster University, in Webster Groves, Missouri. A scout called and asked him to come and play soccer at the University. That year, the school won the National Championship, the first in the school's history.

Stephen began his modeling in St. Louis and was obtained by Talent Plus in Clayton, MO. He appeared in many ads ranging from Sears, Famous Barr, Dilliards and Calvin Klein. In 1998, before leaving for Hollywood, he was scouted inside the mall at Structure. He was asked to join a modeling competition in search for the franchise's Underwear Spokes model. Stephen bought a last minute plane ticket and headed to New York. The judges where Heidi Klum and Tyra Banks, Stephen won, beating out over 650 other contestants, ensuring him a spot in the semi-finals in Columbus, OH later that month.

Later that year, Stephen will not only place in the top ten of the Structure Underwear Competition, but he will also appear on talk shows such as The View, The Ru Paul Show, Good Morning America and the Good Day LA to only name a few.

In 1998, he was discharged from the United States Air Force after a career ending injury to his right knee during a game. After a year of rehabilitation, he found himself on the road to Hollywood to begin his career.
